Charles “Chuck” Heisinger was born on Dec. 10th, 1954 to Leo and Janice (Weber) Heisinger of Delmont SD. He joined the US Navy at age 18 and traveled around the Pacific on the USS Grey. While at sea, he proudly worked as a boiler technician before returning to South Dakota. After discharge from the Navy, worked at UBC, which led him to start his own construction business. Chuck’s love of carpentry persisted in the quality of his attention to his craft.

Throughout his active life, he enjoyed being outdoors. He liked to explore trails most people overlook, such as the Homestake pipeline in the Black Hills. He enjoyed bicycling the Mickelson Trail sometimes those 20-mile rides left others in the dust. He was a hard worker who was proud of his trade. His home was well stocked with toys and entertaining activities for his grandchildren to enjoy on their visits to grandpa’s house. There have been many wonderful memories made of their laughter and play. Chuck enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins on television and sometimes between changing channels during commercials. Chuck was well known in the community and his presence will be greatly missed.

He is survived by daughters Michelle Larsen (Brent) of Spearfish SD, Amy Deppe (Jon) of Cedar Rapids IA and Laura Heisinger of Rapid City SD.  His grandchildren Madison, Wyatt, Zander and Juda Deppe. He is also survived by his mother Janice Heisinger of Parkston SD, and siblings David Heisinger of Parkston SD, Tim Heisinger of Worthing SD, Gerald (Kim) Heisinger of Dimock SD, Lynn Heisinger of Parkston SD, Francis (Lisa) Heisinger of Olathe KS, Benny Heisinger of Parkston SD, Pat (Todd) Nelson of Sioux Falls SD, Jeanne (Dylane) Klatt of Crookston MN, Judi Heisinger of Woodbury MN, John Heisinger and Special friend Christine of St. Louis MO. So sorry to hear the loss of Chuck. Worked with Chuck at UBC, he is the only guy I know that would layout on the top roof of truck while we all sat in shade eating our lunch. He also could cut ten pieces of roof steel at one time.He was tougher than tough! Gonna miss seeing you around, Chuck. May you rest, till we meet again.

Chuck worked with me at UBC in the 70s. We most of installed Saxony cabinets in half the houses in Mitchell. Extremely hard worker and good friend. Rest in Peace old friend. I doubt there will ever be another. That caulk sweatshirt should be put under glass.

Chuck worked diligently to take care of so many people’s home projects. He was always full of positive energy and had a can do attitude attitude about every thing he did. He was great to have on the job and people enjoyed having him around. His giant personality and booming presence was always missed when the job was done. He loves his girls and his grand children, spoke of traveling to see and help them often. We knew he enjoyed every minute of it and went every chance he could. He was a dear dear soul and a treasure to have around.. Thank you Chuck.
