Peter “Bud” Alvin Donker was born on November 2, 1929 to Pieter and Anne (Dykstra) Donker at home near Aurora Center, SD. He attended grade school in Aurora Center, and then attended Sioux City Barber College, and would go on to use this skill for 67 years.

Peter was united in marriage to Cornelia Overweg on December 15, 1948, and to this union, they had four children. Peter cared for his wife, Corky, through sickness and health until her death in January 2015. He later married Thelmadean Overweg Bennett on August 25, 2015, and gained a daughter, Pamela.

Peter had farmed for 40 years at his home dating back to 1959. He cherished his time playing the guitar, dancing, and raising his family. Peter was very involved in the community. He was on the township board, measured land for ASCS, and was a member of the Dakota Classic Cruisers Car Club. Bud helped at Stickney High School in Shop Class teaching car repair. Peter loved antique cars; he loved to restore them along with tractors. Peter was also a band member in “Family Affair” for 5 years. They played at weddings, nursing homes, churches, and anniversaries. After Peter’s music career, he was inducted into the South Dakota Music Hall of Fame. Peter valued his church, committing to a life of service as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and catechism.

Peter is survived by his children: Patricia (Alan) Zwart, Gloria (Don) Walz, Marcia Beltman, Myron (Dawn) Donker, and Pamela (Robert) Bennett Liems; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Jean (Cornelius) Schelling and Judy Peterson; and son-in-law, Doug Beltman.

Deepest sympathies to all of you. Our family met many years ago when you lived in the Ethan area.

My deepest sympathy to the family of this special man. Someone once said that there are two kinds of people--
Those who make you feel better when they enter a room and Those who make you feel better when they leave. When Bud entered with that big smile and warm handshake, everyone felt the care.
