Esther Marie Pederson was born on March 24, 1928 to Emil and Marie (Gastauer) Henkel in Kenosha, WI. Her family moved to northern Wisconsin when she was one year old. They lived on farms at Tioga, Humbird, and Neilsville in Wisconsin. When Esther was fourteen the family relocated to Iroquois, SD. She graduated from Iroquois High School in 1946. I worked with Esther the last nine years before she retired from Intercouny Electric. She was one of nicest ladies that you could ever meet. A couple of things I remember about Ester was with the computer. The computer age was just getting started and Ester was the main data entry person. She had many yellow sticky notes all over office and the big IBM computer to remind her about certain things that she needed to do before entering utility bills or after before pushing that final enter key on the computer. When Esther retired, she made this comment to me: She said "Dennis, I was born at the right time to be retiring now with all this computer stuff happening so fast. This is for you younger people." She will be missed.

As everyone has said, Esther was so kind and cheerful. She would invite me over for dinner when I lived in Mitchell and we would hang out and talk. She was a great hostess and conversationalist.

Esther was an angel among us! We first met her and Cliff when we joined Holy Spirit Parish back in 1995. Since then, we consider them close friends and part of our extended family. Esther was such a warm, faithful, friendly, kind, and generous woman. She was always interested in what we were doing and how we were doing. We loved spending time with them and we know that Esther went right to heaven and has been escorted in to see the face of God! She is now part of our litany of the saints because we consider her one. We extend our deepest sympathies to Cliff, David, and Daniel and their families. May God shine his everlasting light and peace on you at this time. "Forget not to show love unto strangers; for some have entertained angels without knowing it," Hebrews 13:2

Ray worked at Intercounty with Esther for many years, and was a lifelong friend after that. She was always interested in how he was doing, and always said to tell him "hi". She was such a sweet, thoughtful lady, and will be missed by many. God bless her family.

Esther was an Angel here on earth loving and caring for all: family, friends, acquaintances. She had a warm welcoming smile, an always ready & willing helping hand, open arms to comfort those in need, and a gleeful sweet laugh in happy times! You’ll be remembered forever in the many cherished memories and love we all shared with you! Now Esther you can fly on that magic carpet you always wanted with the angels above watching over all of us! All our Love, Lorrie & Jr Marzini
