Leigh "Pork" W. Putzier was born September 25, 1959 to Roy and Wilma (Moe) Putzier in Mitchell, SD. He graduated from Hanson High School in 1977. He was involved in farm life, 4-H, Farmers Union and acquired the nickname of “Pork.” He farmed and ranched his entire life, including for several ranchers in the Faith and Dupree area while also working at Faith High School. His most recent employment was on a ranch by Meadow, SD where his employer called him the “tennis shoe/baseball cap cowboy.” Leigh loved to hunt, go to rodeos and travel. He would often spend time and travel with his good friends, John and Sue Henrichsen of Rapid City that included a trip to Hawaii.
Leigh is survived by his mother, Wilma Putzier of Mitchell; two sisters: Susan Walter of Mitchell and Joan Kerns of Mitchell; two brothers: Duane (Rebecca) Putzier of rural Mitchell and his twin brother, Lynn “Beef” Putzier of Alexandria and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Putzier and brother-in-law, Ronald Walter.
