Joan Mary Berg

October 15, 1948 - October 25, 2014

Joan Mary Schulte was born October 15, 1948 to Andrew and Eva (Garry) Schulte in Mitchell, SD. She grew up on a farm south of Emery, and graduated from Emery High School. Joan married Leonard Berg on January 10, 1967, and they farmed together near Emery.

Joan contributed to numerous community and school activities over the years, and along with her husband Leonard, was chosen to be the Emery Homecoming Grand Marshal in 2005.

Survivors include her husband Leonard, four children Steve (Susan) Berg, Linda Nagel (Mike), Kevin (Emily) Berg, and Gretchen Berg, eight grandchildren (Samantha Nagel, Brandon Berg, Lindsey Berg, Lucas Berg, Charlie Berg, Tommy Berg, Sadie Berg, and Holly Berg), one sister Nancy (Larry) Weber, nine brothers, Robert (Linda) Schulte, Kenneth (Linda) Schulte, Charles (Bonnie) Schulte, Richard (Julie) Schulte, George (Brenda) Schulte, Martin Schulte, Dennis (Carol) Schulte, Garry (Judy) Schulte, and Nick (Lori) Schulte, brothers-in-law Eugene (Karen) Berg and Larry Berg, and many nieces and nephews. I am so very sorry for your loss. One of the very warmest, best people I have ever known. Always upbeat and supportive. She will be missed by many of us. Just try to focus on allllll the good times you've shared with her. Hugs.

Dear Lenny and family.
We're sending hugs to each of you. May the memories you have of Joan help you at this difficult time and in the days to come. Joan was a wonderful lady and will be missed by many. So glad we got to visit with Joan at the "Marnach Reunion". She was always a joy to visit with and so proud talking about her family.
