LaVera Reeves - Knox


October 4, 1929 - November 23, 2014


LaVera Ione Reeves-Knox was born October 4, 1929 at Storla, SD to Hanley and Agnes (Thompson) Scott. She graduated from Letcher High School in 1947, Augustana College in 1949, Dakota Wesleyan University in 1977 and Northern State University in 1981.  On August 13, 1958 she married Charles Preston Reeves.  Charles died May 1, 1990.  On September 20, 1995 she married Raymond Knox.  Raymond died June 30, 2002.  LaVera had a great love to teach; she taught elementary school in Sioux Falls, Chamberlain, Plankinton and Eugene, OR.  She had a love for the farm life, musicals and enjoyed teaching her children to sing.

She is survived by her sister: Charlotte Cadwell of Chamberlain SD; three daughters: Brenda (Don) Guthmiller of Hayti SD, Bette (Craig) Bronson of Weatherford, TX, Barbara (Johnny Diebold) Reeves of Eagan, Minn., six grandchildren: Lisa (Chad) Papke, Erik Guthmiller, Christian Bronson, Shannon Bronson, Sydney Diebold and Avery Diebold and one great-granddaughter, Addalynn Papke. She is also survived by sisters-in-law: Carolyn Sue Wilson, Joyce Marshall, and Jane Reeves all of TX as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce and her two husbands and her parents.

Thinking of you all and wishing we could be there. The world is a little dimmer without Aunt LaVera in it. But I take comfort in the fact that she is with Uncle Chuck and Bruce again. Love you all.

Our thoughts and prayers to your family. She was a awesome neighbor and we always had great talks with her. She always enjoyed coming to our house it brought back many memories for her.She told us many stories that took place at our home. She will be missed.
