Edward J. Weins was born August 5, 1920 in Davison County to Peter and Margaret (Roth) Weins. He attended Lisbon #21 country grade school. In his younger years he broke horses. On October 7, 1941 he married Lillian Heinzman. They farmed for 28 years near Mitchell. They owned and operated Weins Meat Market for five years and worked for the Mitchell Fire and Ambulance Department for five years. He owned and operated Weins Construction, building houses until 1983, and then retired from Sunshine Food Store in 1995.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Lillian, five children: Leo (Mary) Weins, John (Linda) Weins, Paul (Cheri) Weins, all of Brighton, CO; Pete (Marlys) Weins, Mitchell; and Sharon (Roger) Bastian, Mesa AZ; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and two sisters: Alberta Baldwin, Mitchell and Adala Graff, Rockton, IL.
He was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters, five sisters-in-law, ten brothers-in-law and one daughter-in-law.
