Floyd Herman Weeldreyer was born January 19, 1928 to Herman L. and Gertie (Cassens) Weeldreyer on the family farm near Chancellor, SD. He went home to be with the Lord on March 22, 2015 while living at the Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater, SD.
Floyd attended country school near Chancellor and upon finishing, he moved to Sioux Falls to work at John Morrell & Co. and later on a farm near Lennox.
While living in Sioux Falls, he met Leona Tammen of Emery. They were married October 21, 1949 and made their home northwest of Chancellor until 1960 when they moved to a farm north of Emery. In 1992 they retired and moved to Emery. Floyd continued to keep busy in retirement doing carpentry, helping on truck day at the Total Stop Food Store and with the Senior Meals Program.
He was a member of the Emery Senior Center and First Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and on the Deacon Board and had also sung in a men's octet.
He enjoyed playing softball for many years and later joining friends at the Emery Senior Center to play pool and card games. He loved spending time with his family and they will miss him greatly.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 65 years, Leona, and three children: Marna (Roger) Mohrmann, Watertown, Ron (Suzanne) Weeldreyer, Bridgewater and Sharon Weeldreyer, Emery. He also leaves seven grandchildren: Brad (Susie) Mohrmann, Brent (Christianne) Mohrmann, Aaron Weeldreyer, Chad (Rachael) Weeldreyer, Kristi Weeldreyer (fiance, Preston Johnson), Ryan (Jill) Budahl and Scott (Kati) Budahl; five great-grandchildren: Katelynn Mohrmann, Nathan Mohrmann, Emilee, Presley and Dawson Budahl; siblings: Hazel Hagen, Monte Vista, CO, Lyle (Betty) Weeldreyer, Sioux Falls, Merle (Connie) Weeldreyer, Aurora, CO and Audrey (Luverne) Mechels, Sioux Falls and sister-in-law, Luetta Weeldreyer, Lennox. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Warren and Arnold; sister, Agnes Bartels; granddaughter, Heidi Sue Weeldreyer; and brothers-in-law, Melvin Hagen and Eppo Bartels.
