Alvina Martha Neugebauer was born November 25, 1916 in Douglas County to Oswald and Bertha (Olawsky) Geidel. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Dimock. She grew up and attended country school in Washington Township. On May 25, 1947 she married Lorenz Neugebauer at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They farmed in Douglas County until 1981, retiring and moving to Mitchell. She became a member of St. John Lutheran Church after marrying and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell in 1986. She was involved with both church women’s groups and supporter of Lutheran World Relief, making quilts, soap, and assembling health kits, school kits and baby layettes. Alvina enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting, gardening and playing cards. She loved to bake and cook and was especially noted for her homemade bread, potato dumplings, Christmas cookies and dill pickles. Alvina and Lorenz enjoyed traveling and visited all fifty states.
She is survived by her three children: Karen (Lyle) Hatten, Kenwood, CA, Dennis (Mary) Neugebauer, Corsica, Rev. Duane (Margie) Neugebauer, Hermosa; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters: Anita Neugebauer, Parkston, Agnes Reimnitz, Mitchell; one brother, Herbert (Margaret) Geidel, Parkston; and one sister-in-law, Helen Geidel, Parkston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenz in 2004, one sister, Erna Geidel and one brother, Elmer Geidel.
