Robert B. Ohlen, 72, of Boone, NC passed away Wednesday evening, November 25, 2015, at his residence.
A Celebration of Life Service for Robert B. Ohlen will be held Wednesday afternoon, December 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Boone United Methodist Church, Boone, NC. Officiating will be Pastor David C. Hockett and Christine Lamont. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. A Memorial Fund has been established.
Robert B. Ohlen was born February 26, 1943 in Pipestone, MN, to Dr. Virgil and Mildred (Thiele) Ohlen. He attended high school in Pipestone, MN, and graduated in Mitchell, SD. He attended the University of South Dakota at Vermillion, SD and graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University at Mitchell, SD. He received his Masters Degree in Hospital Administration from Washington University in Saint Louis, MO. He retired after 44 years in hospital administration. Robert was a member of Rotary of Boone, NC, a Fellow of Royal Society of Health, a Fellow of American Hospital Executives, a member of the International Hospital Federation, and a member of the Boone United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Gudrun Ohlen, of Boone, NC; two daughters, Christine Lamont and husband, Jason of Germany and Nicole Ohlen and husband, Jay of Overland Park, KS; his mother, Mildred Skogmo, of Mitchell, SD and two grandsons, Marshall and Carson Lamont of Germany.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Virgil Robert Ohlen and step-father, Dr. Bernhoff Skogmo.
