Dale Leonard Meinke


May 11, 1944 - June 27, 2016


Dale Leonard Meinke was born May 11, 1944 in Parkston to Ervin and Klara (Kilber) Meinke. On May 11, 1974 he married Doris Sonne. He was employed by Dakota Manufacturing, Trail King, Wise Tire Company and Hendrickson Trailer in Mitchell for nine years. He was also employed by the City of Ethan for a few years and had served on the Ethan City Council for two years. Dale enjoyed doing mechanic work, especially on cars. He was an avid fan of classic car and tractor shows and attending Dakota Fest. He loved watching and collecting John Wayne movies and memorabilia. He attended the Mitchell Nazarene Church in Mitchell for numerous years.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; one son, Lennie Meinke of Mitchell, one daughter, Elsie (Travis) Thompson of Chatfield, MN; one brother, Reinhold Meinke of Minden, MN; one sister, Ann Johnson of Mitchell and four grandchildren: Savannah, Lucais, Cadence and Ivy Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Carol and two brothers: Otto and Richard.

Growing up, I lived close to Dale and his family. They were the best people you could hope to know. He will be missed. I am very sorry for your loss.

We are going to miss Dale's smiling face. He was such a kind hearted man. Ethan will not be the same without him. My sympathy goes out to your entire family.
