Louis Adam Nolz


January 1, 1930 - September 20, 2016


Louis Adam Nolz was born on January 1, 1930 on a farm near Parkston, SD to Joe and Mary (Tischler) Nolz.  He attended rural schools and Sacred Heart Parochial School in Parkston.  Later he moved with his family and farmed near Delmont. 

On April 22, 1957, Louie married Regina Berg at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Emery, SD.  They moved to a farm near Artesian where they lived until 1961.  At that time, they moved to a farm northeast of Mitchell where they farmed together until Louie retired at the age of 75.  In 2009, Louie and Regina moved to Mitchell.  Since July of 2015, Louie had been a resident at Avera Brady Health and Rehab.

Louie served for many years on the Plano Township Board and the Hanson County Weed Board.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Holy Family Catholic Church. 

Louie is survived by his wife, Regina of Mitchell; daughters: Donna (Gary) Ellingson and Carol Sheppard of Mitchell; grandchildren:   Jarrod Ellingson (Yuri Kashima-Ellingson) of  Westminster, CO, Megan Sheppard and Luke Sheppard of Mitchell; one great-granddaughter, Maisie Kashima-Ellingson of Westminster; a brother, Alvin (Devona) Nolz of Mitchell; three sisters-in-law:  Rita (Jerome) Weber of Mitchell, Eleanor (Virgil) Weber of Spearfish,  Doris Berg of Sioux Falls; one brother-in-law, Gerald Berg of Emery, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Caroline (Carl) Friedrick; a brother, Ray (Nina) Nolz and two brothers-in-law:  Ray Berg and John Berg.
