Katharina Anna Ott was born March 21, 1923 in Burgellen, Germany, the youngest of twelve children of Joseph and Annamaria Mohrlein. She left war torn Germany with husband Edmund Ott and their four children, Heinrich, Marianna, Erich, and Emil to travel to America.
Their first year in the USA was living on the Alfred and Edna Schelske farm near Reliance and then moved to Oacoma, SD. Katharina loved having a huge garden, working with Edmund planting lots of fruit trees, many flowers, enjoying making homemade wines and just loved to cook all the wonderful German foods teaching others how to do it as well. She also loved to play the harmonica and really enjoyed dancing!
Katharina "Katie" was currently a resident of Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell for several years and often played her harmonica with local groups that came to provide entertainment to the residents.
Unfortunately, she became very ill with pneumonia and was then peacefully carried away in the arms of God's love to be with him in heaven. The family is confident that she has already shared many of her special talents with God and of the all the angels in heaven!!
Katharina is survived by her awesome family: son, Heinrich and wife, Shirley, Ott of Pukwana, SD with daughters: Karleen, Lisa and Karen and grandchildren: Cody, Savannah and Seth, daughter, Mary Ann Shrake of Trenton, MI with daughter, Kathy and grandchildren: Emily and Catherine and son, Peter, with granddaughter Sally and son, Erich and wife, Juanita of Pell City, AL and youngest son, Emil of Mitchell SD, niece and nephew Crystal and Heinrich Cwosta, Doschendof, Germany, and special friend Walter F.
