Maxine Peart


May 13, 1934 - April 23, 2017


Maxine Peart, 82, Mitchell, SD died Sunday, April 23, 2017 at her home under the care of hospice surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday, April 27 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm Wednesday with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Maxine was born May 13, 1934 in Peever, SD to Esther Fryer and Ruben Thiele. She and her mother moved to Mitchell in 1946 where she attended school and graduated Mitchell High School in 1952. After graduating, she worked at Buches Department store.  She was united in marriage to Donald Fred Peart in 1953.  Several years later she and Don started a family, her dream was to have a house full of babies. She was widowed after having her fourth child, she devoted her life  to raising her family. Once her family was raised, she worked at Syncom and later at Firesteel Heights until she retired.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was active in the Alter Guild, helped with the newsletter and her children's youth groups. She helped to organized many of her class reunions. She looked so forward to seeing her classmates at these reunions. She loved cooking, gardening, dancing and getting together with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother Esther Heisinger, father, step-father, loved husband Don and one grand daughter.

She is survived by her children:  Debra (Barry) Bennett, Kathy (Michael) Hansen, Jeffrey (Maureen) Peart and Julie (Mark) Granger, six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.


Memorials are preferred to Avera Hospice, 525 N. Foster, Mitchell, SD

or the Alzheimer's Association 1000 N. West Ave Sioux Falls, SD 57104.

Our condolences to the family at this sad time. Maxine was a wonderful person that was always fun to see and visit with and have many memories to remember her from all the family gatherings.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Maxine was a cousin to my late husband Delton, unfortunately we didn't get together very often, she was a very nice lady.
