Floyd Hanten, 78, of Mitchell, died Saturday, May 26, 2018 at his home under the care of hospice.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, May 31 at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm Wednesday at the Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Floyd Michael Hanten was born April 14, 1940 in White Lake to Otto and Ida (Meier) Hanten. He grew up and attended school in Mitchell. On December 8, 1988 he married Jan Snedeker in Mitchell. Floyd was a carpet installer in the Mitchell area for 30 years and drove a motor paper route to Reliance, SD for the Mitchell Daily Republic until retiring. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, loved restoring and showing off his 51 Ford pickup, enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his grand and great grandkids.
He is survived by his wife Jan, six children: Diane (Rocky) Brenden of Mitchell, Jeanne (Dale) Mathey of LeMars, IA, Ty (Marty) Hanten of Fargo, ND, Rick (Kim) Snedeker of McHenry, IL, Carla Snedeker of Mitchell and Vicki (Billie) Budd of Ft Scott, KS, eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, sisters: Marcella Thompson and Carol Everson of White Lake, brothers: Harold Hanten of Omaha, NE and Eugene Hanten of Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters: Cecilia Gladwin, Dorothy Graves, Connie Koepsell and Sally Rayman, three brothers: Donald, Walter and Russell.
