Melinda Schrader, 59, Mitchell, SD formerly of Emery, SD died Saturday, June 9, at her home under the care of hospice after a courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 15, from 12:00 to 8:00 pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 pm at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. A private interment will be in the Emery Community Cemetery.
Melinda Schrader was born June 29, 1958 to Milton and Lovella (Triebwasser) Schrader and was raised on her parents’ farm near Emery. After graduating from Emery High School she worked at Sencore in Sioux Falls for several months. Then she helped in her parents' farming operation and Amsoil business for several years, along with working as secretary for First Baptist Church in Emery. For two and a half years she worked at Syncom Technologies in Mitchell. The past 23 years she was employed by Mitchell Manufacturing.
She had an eye for decorating and enjoyed working with plants and flowers in her yard. She also enjoyed spending time on her parents’ farm, making trips to Texas to visit her sister, and attending and hosting gatherings of the extended family. She faced the stages of declining health with grace and acceptance, knowing a home in Heaven was assured because her faith was in her Savior Jesus Christ. She accepted Christ in 1968 and was baptized and became a member of First Baptist Church of Emery in 1969.
She will be greatly missed by her parents, Milton and Lovella Schrader, of rural Emery, a sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Tim Hansen of Alamo, TX, and by nieces and nephew Rashelle, Danica and Dustin and their families in Texas and Oklahoma, her godson Tyler Arend of Summit, SD, also by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends and by her beloved Siamese Meeko.
