Marvin Gales, 86, of White Lake, SD died Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, SD.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, September 8, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in White Lake. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Friday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with a scripture/rosary service at 7:00 PM. Arrangements are being handled by the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.
Marvin Mathias Gales was born January 26, 1932 in White Lake, SD to Bernard and Malinda (Mairose) Gales. He graduated from White Lake High School in 1950 and then served four years in the US Navy during the Korean War. Following the service he attended and graduated from Southern State College in Springfield, SD. Marvin’s working career began as a Regional Sales Rep with Tri-State Electric in Sioux Falls, SD in in 1960. He retired as Tri-State’s president in December of 1995. On February 19, 1971 he married Margaret “Blondie” Reinesch at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in White Lake. They resided and raised their children in White Lake and never missed an opportunity to watch their children and grandchildren in their sports and activities. Marv was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan, enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his shop.
He is survived by his four children: Scott Gales of Denver, CO, Stuart (Heather) Gales of Plankinton, SD, Steve (Kari) Gales of Watertown, SD and Stacey (Marshall) Crawford of Sioux Falls, SD six grandchildren, one sister, Lucille Hettinger of Mitchell, SD two brothers: Gene (Barb) Gales of Gillette, WY, Larry (Linda) Gales of White Lake and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Margaret “Blondie” in June 2017.
