Phyllis Brookbank, 86, Mitchell, died Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Firesteel Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, September 26 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Mitchell. Burial will be in Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm Tuesday with a prayer service at 6:30 pm at the Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Phyllis (Cunningham) Brookbank was born December 21, 1931 to Thomas and Ethel (Taylor) Cunningham. She was a lifelong resident of Mitchell, where she met her husband, Milt. Phyllis worked for several local companies, including Herters and her beloved Woolworth’s. She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Mitchell.

She is survived by her six children, Sue (Bruce) Vrooman, Michael (Kathy) Brookbank, Susan (Jim) Chapman, Mary (Terry) Gale, Scott Brookbank, and Debra Billotto; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milt, three brothers, and one sister.

My condolences to the family. I met Phyllis several years ago when I lived and worked in Mitchell. Initially she came to my office for business and later she would often stop by just to visit. I really enjoyed her.....nice, nice lady.

My husband Carl lived with Phyllis and Milt before we where married, over 50 year ago.. Carl had nothing but praise and loving respect for Phyllis.. My deepest sympathy to the family. Keep all your happy thoughts and memories close to your heart.

I loved Phyllis more than words could ever say. She made me a better person and was such a great 2nd mother to me. May the Lord Bless you and Keep you all.
