My friendship with Wenton began when we were freshmen at South Dakota State University. We both worked for the Farm Service Agency and even in the same office for a time. I have always appreciated Wenton's character and wisdom. He is a friend that I will miss.

A fellow member of Thunderbird Roost he was an avid Sportsman. Our condolences to his mother and entire family. My wife Hazel sends special wishes to Agnes who remembers when Agnes and Elmer first met at Thunderbird Roost.

I met Wenton when I joined the Mitchell chapter of Pheasants Forever, and remember him as a witty guy that loved to hunt pheasants as much as I did. He was always a humble person, and never bragged about his military accomplishments. I was very sorry to hear of his passing, and I'm sure his hunting buddies and many others will miss him, too.

Wenton will be missed. He had a "one of a kind sense of humor" and was a very generous and kind person. As a fellow Federal Employee he was a dedicated Civil Servant and always made the effort to get the job done. My sympathy to his family.
