Obituary

Thelma Stickel, 93, of Mitchell, SD died Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at First Reformed Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Thelma Mae Stickel was born December 28, 1924 in Plankinton, SD to Alexander and Anna (Olson) Boyd. She grew up in Aurora County attending rural schools and graduated from Plankinton High School in 1942. She also attended Mitchell Business College. She was employed at the Farmers and Merchants State Bank in Plankinton until moving to Mitchell where she worked for Mitchell Wholesale Grocery and Fruit Company and the Methodist Hospital as a secretary. On September 3, 1954 she married Marvin Stickel. Thelma was active with Girl Scouts, PTA at Whittier School and volunteer at the Middle Boarder Museum.

She is survived by two children, Ruth (Dan) Shank and Paul Stickel, three grandsons, Steven (Autumn) Erickson, Shawn (Amber) Erickson and Danny Shank and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, daughter, Martha Erickson, brother, Robert and sister, Martha.
