Lisa Shippy, 52, of Mitchell, SD died Tuesday, December 11, 2018 near Mitchell as the result of an automobile accident.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Monday, December 17, 2018 at Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Sunday at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service.
Lisa Renee Shippy was born February 17, 1966 to James M. and Karen J. Hanson. She was the fourth child and has three older brothers. Lisa grew up in Beresford, SD and then her dad changed careers and moved them to Winner, SD where she graduated from Winner High School.
Lisa was married to Mitch Eilmes in 1986 and resided in Carter, SD. Later she married Rick Shippy in 1989 and resided in Winner, SD. Lisa was currently residing in Mitchell, SD since 2007 near her daughter Tia.
Lisa had a very bubbly and inviting personality and made friends easily. Because of this she has friends all over the state and beyond. Lisa was very artistic. She was always crafting and scrapbooking. She loved to share her talents with many.
She worked at the Winner Regional Health Care Center for many years as a dietary aid until she made her dream of teaching and helping children become reality.
Lisa loved children and she made her dream come true when she opened up Lisa’s Little Hands daycare in Winner, SD in 1997. She took pride in loving and teaching and helping each and every child that crossed the threshold of her daycare. She always had some kind of activity for them to do or places to go visit.
Not only did she help raise numerous children she was blessed with three of her own to love and cherish Tyler, Derek and Tia.
When Lisa moved to Mitchell in 2007, she work at Gertie Belle Rogers Elementary School for two years. She then was able to once again open her daycare. Her beautiful daughter Tia then started working by her side every day until she took over the daycare and Lisa went to work at the Mitchell Middle School to yet again help teach children.
Lisa has six wonderful grandchildren that she loved with every bit of her heart and always worked hard to get to their activities. Their favorite past time was to go mudding in the ranger, dirt biking, and painting and decorating pumpkins for Halloween.
Lisa is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ralph and Nyna Smith and Merle and Sally Hanson.
Lisa is survived by her parents, James and Karen Hanson; her brothers Blane, Kevin, Stuart (Tammi) Hanson; her loving children Tyler (Connie), Derek (Megan) Shippy and Tia (Nate) Satrang; her beautiful grandchildren, Hunter and Easton Shippy, Tynlee, Emersyn and Azlynn Shippy, Avery Kennelly; and numerous nieces and nephews.
