Obituary

Marvin Willaredt, 93, Bridgewater, SD died Sunday, March 24 at the Legacy Living and Rehab Center in Gillette, WY.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday, April 6 at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Emery. Burial with military honors will be in the Bridgewater Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.

Arrangements are with the Hettinger-Bittner Funeral Chapel in Emery.

Marvin Willaredt was born September 13, 1925 at Emery, South Dakota to Butch and Florence Willaredt.  He graduated from Bridgewater High School and then joined the Army Air Corps.  On February 24, 1946, he married Hazel Pommer.   After the war, they moved to a farm near Bridgewater and resided there until their retirement.  Marvin was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and in different offices.  In 2017, he moved to Gillette, Wyoming to live with his grandson, Kurt Willaredt and family. 

He is survived by his four grandchildren, Kurt (Barb) Willaredt, Kory (Christie) Willaredt, Kelly Willaredt, Shawn Tam, two great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Lily Willaredt.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel of 67 years, his son, Rodney Willaredt, his daughter, Glenda Tam and an infant great-granddaughter, Amanda, parents, and his brother Harold Willaredt.
