Lila graduated from Augustana Academy in Canton, South Dakota in 1954 and received her nursing degree from the Methodist School of Nursing in Mitchell in 1957.
Lila was married to David Thompson on September 7, 1958. She worked as a Registered Nurse in the hospital in Volga, South Dakota and at the Mary Greeley hospital in Ames, Iowa while David completed his college education. In 1962, they moved to Bellevue, Nebraska. While in Bellevue, Lila was the head nurse at the Bellevue Leisure Manor and spent many years teaching Licensed Practical Nurses at Doctor’s Hospital in Omaha.
Lila loved spending time with her husband, her three children and her eight grandchildren, especially during the many holidays and travels they spent together. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and reading her Bible. She has impacted many through her involvement in her church and Bible Study Fellowship.
She always had time for her family or a friend that was hurting and quick with an encouraging word. All who knew her were touched by her compassion and caring. Lila lived life to the fullest and served Jesus with her whole heart to the very end. Her godly example will be felt for many generations.
