Obituary

Lila Rose Feistner-Thompson, a longtime resident of Bellevue, Nebraska went into the loving arms of Jesus on April 18, 2019.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Mitchell Wesleyan Church. Burial will be at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Storla, SD. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Monday with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service at Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.

Lila was born in a farmhouse north of Storla, South Dakota on Sept. 4, 1936 to Fred and Rose Feistner.  She grew up in rural Woonsocket and attended Storla Lutheran Church.  Lila graduated from Augustana Academy in Canton, South Dakota in 1954 and received her nursing degree from the Methodist School of Nursing in Mitchell in 1957.

Lila was married to David Thompson on September 7, 1958.  She worked as a Registered Nurse in the hospital in Volga, South Dakota and at the Mary Greeley hospital in Ames, Iowa while David completed his college education.  In 1962, they moved to Bellevue, Nebraska.  While in Bellevue, Lila was the head nurse at the Bellevue Leisure Manor and spent many years teaching Licensed Practical Nurses at Doctor’s Hospital in Omaha.

Lila loved spending time with her husband, her three children and her eight grandchildren, especially during the many holidays and travels they spent together.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and reading her Bible.  She has impacted many through her involvement in her church and Bible Study Fellowship.

She always had time for her family or a friend that was hurting and quick with an encouraging word.  All who knew her were touched by her compassion and caring.  Lila lived life to the fullest and served Jesus with her whole heart to the very end.  Her godly example will be felt for many generations.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, David Thompson, three children, Debbie Entz of Wichita, Larry [Vicki] Thompson of Mitchell, South Dakota, Todd [Michelle] Thompson of Omaha, her brother Merlin [Bonnie] Feistner of Woonsocket, South Dakota, eight grandchildren, Landon [Vanessa] Entz, Jordan Entz, Lindsay Thompson, Dylan Entz, Kelsey Thompson, Nathan Entz, Josh Thompson, and Sarah Thompson and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Rose Feistner, and her son-in-law David Entz.
