Dana Liebert, 74, of Mitchell, SD died Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at First United Methodist Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at American Legion Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Tuesday at Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.
Dana Suzanne Liebert was born on March 18, 1945 in Fort Jackson, South Carolina to Elmer A. and Ina Lee (Arnold) Widmer. She graduated from Parkston High School in 1963. She attended Springfield Teacher’s College, receiving a teaching certification in Music and Elementary Education. She worked at the Wakonda School District for a year and later at the Sioux Valley School District.
On December 22, 1974, Dana married Myron Liebert in Parkston, SD. She taught at the Ethan School District first as a Music Teacher and later as a 2nd Grade Teacher for many years before her retirement in 2005. Dana continued to substitute teach after her retirement. She was a member of the Mitchell First United Methodist Church, taught Sunday School at the Congregational Church in Parkston, and was a member of the South Dakota Teacher’s Association.
She is survived by her husband, Myron Liebert, Mitchell; son Nolan (Sara) Liebert, Ruidoso, NM; grandchildren, Eva and Owen Liebert; sister-in-law Kathy Liebert, Tripp; and aunts Corrine Widmer, Parkston, and Orpha Winter, Parkston.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
