Beverly Pooley, 91, of Mitchell, died Thursday, November 28, 2019 at Avera Brady Health in Mitchell.  

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell.  Burial will be in Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery in Mitchell.   Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Friday at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a pray service at 6:30 PM.

Beverly LaVon Pooley was born on October 28, 1928 in Mitchell, SD to Lloyd and Gladys (Lawver) Fitzgerald. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Mitchell in 1946. She married Marvin Ellis Pooley in Mitchell on January 2, 1947. Bev was employed at Geyerman’s, Chef Louies, and after over 20 years retired from the Davison County Assessor’s Office in 1996. Since her retirement, she volunteered at the hospital for 16 years and sold Avon for 22 years.

She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Red Hat Ladies.

She is survived by her son, Mike Pooley, Mitchell, SD; daughter, Nancy (Mike) Vorderstrasse, Parker, CO; grandchildren, Brooks and Jessica Vorderstrasse, Parker, CO; brothers, Steve (Colleen) Fitzgerald and Patrick (Rita) Fitzgerald, both of Grand Island, NE; and brothers-in-law, Mel (Karen) Pooley, Mitchell, SD, and Jerry Thurman, Rapid City, SD; and sister-in-law, Elaine Pooley, Mitchell, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; sisters, Barbara Waryan, Burdeen Kerr, Patty Thurman; and siblings-in-law, Dwight, Jeanette, Dale, Raymond, Eldon, Ellsworth, Alva, LeVara, and Doris.

We will miss your Mom. I enjoyed working with your Mom at Gibson’s. She cut cake at our wedding. She was always smiling. She will be missed. Our prayers are with all of you.

I loved visiting with your mom! We had some wonderful conversations when she was at Wesley Acres. At Brady her eyes would like up in recognition, with her un-forgetful, beautiful sweet smile. She was such a wonderful lady and will be greatly missed.

We send our Sympathy to the family & friends of Bev Pooley. She was a sweet lady and did alot of funeral meals at Holy Famiky. Bev and Marvin were good friends of Gary's, and his Godparents. Marvin went to the War with Gary's Dad, Clyde.

May all the good Memories of life with your Bev bring you Comfort & Peace all these days.

Bev was a very faithful and sweet person who appreciated whenI I would drop off the newest Word Among Us magazine or talk with her after Mass in Brady Chapel. I will pray for comfort and peace for her family and friends who will miss her I know every time I go to volunteer at Brady I will remember and miss her.
