John Kranz, 78, of Sioux Falls formerly of Mitchell died, Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Ava's House in Sioux Falls. Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of Bittner Funeral Chapel.

John Anthony Kranz was born on October 30, 1941 to John and Pauline (Bohls) Kranz in Watertown, SD. He was united in marriage to Barbee Wiese on October 18, 1963.

John began his career in the automotive sales industry at Sharp Chevrolet in Watertown. Later, he purchased Palace Motors in Mitchell.

John was a member of Bank Boards, DWU Board of Trustees, Game Fish and Parks, Department of Transportation, Chamber President, and Industrial Development Board.

John was an avid fisherman and hunter. He made trips to Canada for fishing, and hunted in Africa.

Grateful for having shared John’s life is his wife, Barbee Kranz; daughter, Linda (Jim) Peta; son, Scott Kranz; siblings, Joyce Meland, Audrey Heathcote, Joe (Carol) Kranz, Jim (Brenda) Kranz, Carol Harkin, Sharlene (Bruce) Howard, Mary (Sid) Morrison, Jeanne (Gary) Gackstetter, Myron (Lisa) Kranz, Paula Kranz; and 5 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers-in-law, Ron Heathcote, Terry Harkin, and Jerry Meland.
