Obituary

Timothy “Tim” Moody, 66, of Letcher, SD, died Monday, June 7, 2021 at his home in Letcher. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 15 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Saint Scholastica Catholic Cemetery in Letcher. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Monday, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with a 6:30 PM prayer service. Funeral arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Timothy Ralph Moody was born on November 3rd, 1954, in Mitchell, to Ralph and Jean (Cross) Moody. He graduated from Letcher High School in 1973. On June 30, 1978, he married Debora Northrup in Letcher. They lived on the family farm in Letcher since 1980. He worked for Mitchell Livestock Auction Company for over 30 years.

Tim had a passion for horses and loved attending rodeos and horse races whenever he could. He frequently attended many sporting events and other activities his grandchildren were involved in. He was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He was also a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Tim was loved very much, and will be missed by his three children: Hilary (Brandon) Dexter of Milbank; Walter (Meghan) Moody of Mitchell; and Hadley Moody of Nashville; five grandchildren: Jenna, Jacy, and Logan Dexter and Addyson and Kooper Moody; and two brothers, Terry Moody of Letcher, and Skip (Diane) Moody of Letcher.

He was preceded in death by his wife Debbie, parents, Ralph and Jean, and brother, Pat.

That Tim was something special. Not surprised by all the notes of condolences that mention his smile and story telling. Tim worked with Richard (Rick) at the old Plains Industries many years ago and when he started being a cattle buyer, we sold calves through him for years. Always looked forward to the day he came out to check calves, have coffee and tell stories about his kids, he sure loved you guys. May God's blessings be with you.

My mom, Donna VanOverschelde shared a memory of Tim standing by the railing at the Kernel stadium during a win, and he pointed to Walt (coach) on the field and said, “That’s my boy! Yep, he was a proud dad. Loved his smile. You will be missed, Tim, rest in the arms of Jesus. I’m sure Debbie is happy to see you. Our prayers to the Moody family.

Have known Tim since childhood ( 4-H and horse activities), his wife Debbie was my college lab partner. Both SUPER people and I'll remember them fondly,. They raised 3 talented children and my prays and thoughts to them, Terry, Skip and Diane, and his grandchildren

Tim and I grew up on the infamous gravel road called Main Street in Letcher! He rode by my house on his horses daily as a youth! The nicest guy in the world, all of his life!
