Raoul Weitzman

June 17, 1954 - October 13, 2009

Raoul Joseph Weitzman was born June 17, 1954 to Kurt and Ingeborg (Maxeiner) Weitzman in Springfield, MA.  In 1960 he moved with his family to Germany where he attended school and graduated from school in Germany.  In the early seventies he moved to Corvallis, MT and in the mid-seventies he moved to St. Petersburg, FL.

He was a conservative who dedicated his life to volunteering and helping those in need in homeless shelters, soup kitchens and to anyone who needed assistance.  His health began failing him with chronic COPD and forced him to give up his life of helping people in Florida.  He moved to Mitchell, SD to be near his brothers and sister who helped him so he was able to continue to live independently.  He was grateful to his family and friends whom he loved.

He is survived by one son, Joseph Weitzman, Dothan, AL; two daughters: Alise Weitzman, St. Petersburg, FL, and Amy Parker and her husband, Joseph, Ashland, KY; brothers, Marcel “Butch” Weitzman and wife, Diane, Mitchell, SD, Philip Weitzman and wife, Pia, Bitburg, Germany; sisters: Ingrid Rheaume and husband, Marcel, Rockledge, FL, Verena Rickett and husband, Rick, Mitchell, SD, Susan Spagnolo, Springfield, MA and three grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

To Be Announced

Posted by Sue Spagnolo on October 17, 2009
I was so saddenedby my brother's passing; I only wish I had been able to visit and see him. He always has held a very special place in my heart. He was such a good guy and never complained about what life had dealt out to him; he preferred to look at "the cup" as half full, not half empty. He always cared about others and gave so much of himself. I thank my brothers, sisters, their spouses, and children for always caring for Raoul. I know God has a special place for you filled with love. You are in the arms of the angels. I will always hold you close in my heart. Deepest sympathy to my nieces and nephew, he loved you dearly.
