Helen May Beck


May 30, 1932 - April 27, 2010




Helen May Beck was born May 30, 1932, in Mitchell, to Harry and Margaret (Hess) Miller. She grew up in Mitchell and attended Mitchell High School. In April of 1949, she married Don Beck and they had five children. She began her career in retail sales in Mitchell and was employed at Feinstein’s Clothing for ten years and Geyerman’s Clothing for twenty-five years. She was also employed at the Blue Room and Chef Louie’s. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her longtime friend and companion, Gene Koupal of Mitchell; her children: Dan Beck and wife, Paula of Laguna Niguel, CA, Barb Schapler and husband, Fred of Tempe, AZ, Rick Beck and wifek Lettie of Tempe, AZ, Scott Beck and wife, Mona of York, NE, Deby Beck of Lincoln, NE; eleven grandchildren: Rick Schapler and Stacy Noble of Phoenix, AZ, Wyatt Beck and Logan Beck of Lincoln, NE, Kiley Heidtbrink of Gresham, NE, Shea Beck and Drake Beck of Phoenix, AZ, Teagan Beck of Omaha, NE, J.J. True, Mikey True, and Rustyn Sherer of Phoenix, AZ; eight great grandchildren: Mady Noble, Samy Noble, Tylee Schapler, and Davis Schapler of Phoenix, AZ, Halley Heidtbrink and Hope Heidtbrink of Gresham, NE, and Hayden Sherer, Phoenix, AZ and Liam True, Vancouver, BC and one brother, Bob Miller and wife, Lenore of Emory, WI and the children of Gene Koupal:  Pete, Mary, Anne, Mark, Paul and Molly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers: Fern Burnett, Ken Miller, Paul Miller, Vera Miller and Kay Meinke.
