Dolores Barnes Wilson was born May 11, 1924 at Mitchell, SD to Sylvester and Josephine (Drees) Barnes. She grew up in Mitchell attending Eugene Field and Whittier grade schools and Notre Dame Junior High. On May 11, 1957 she married Roy Wilson at Alexandria, SD. Over the years she was employed by the Armour Creameries, Mitchell Produce, the Widmann and Lawler Motels and Lounge, Moonlite Bar, Cactus Bar and the Davison County Welfare Office. She was a Mitchell Historian and in 1980 she authored the book “From The Wrong Side Of The Tracks”.
She is survived by her husband, Roy of Dell Rapids; two daughters: Patty Behrend of Minneapolis, MN; Nancy Wilson of Tea, two sons: Michael Wilson of Minneapolis, MN; Roy Wilson of Lincoln, NE; one step-daughter, Cheryl Kraft of Minneapolis, MN; two step-sons: Gene Wilson of San Pedro, CA; Rod Wilson of Manhattan Beach, CA; a sister-in-law, Bernita Barnes of Mitchell, four grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, John Lee Wilson, five brothers: Don, Delmar, Bernard, Bob and James, two sisters: Evelyn Hohn and Norma Phillips.
