Maxine Hattie Tiede


March 15, 1940 - August 5, 2011


Maxine Hattie Tiede was born March 15, 1940, at Havana, ND, to Herman and Florence (White) Hansen. She attended school at Forman, ND, and in 1957 after her father’s death moved with her mother and siblings to Lisbon, ND. On August 21, 1960, she married Leland Tiede, also of Lisbon, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisbon. In 1961, they moved to Mitchell. She worked as the head maid at the Super 8 Motel, was a demo person at Sunshine Foods and was employed in the mail room at Cortrust Bank until her retirement in 2004. She loved going to flea markets and spending time with her grandchildren.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Leland of nearly 51 years, two sons and one daughter: Darwin Tiede and wife, Dorothy, Rodney Tiede and Ronda Tiede, all of Mitchell; two grandchildren, Brent Tiede and fiancé Elisha Rumbolz of Mitchell, Brandi Neugebauer and husband, Kyle of Ethan; four brothers: Herman Hansen of Oxford, AL, Lars Hansen, William Hansen and wife, Janet and Norman Hansen and wife Vicki all of Lisbon, ND; two sisters, Mildred Cole and husband, Duane of Lisbon, ND and Devon Hansen of Grand Forks, ND; one sister-in-law, Margie Kuck, of Ellendale, ND; and one brother-in-law, Tim Tiede and wife, Sandy, of Englevale, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Art and Loretta Tiede; a sister-in-law, Anita Hansen; and a brother-in-law, Herbert Kuck.


In lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund has been established to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
