Rosalie Jean (Dahle) Hansen was born December 23, 1925 at Decorah, Iowa to Odin and Beatta (Twenge) Dahle. Rosalie was baptized February 14, 1926 and confirmed her baptism June 18, 1939 at First Lutheran Church of Decorah, Iowa. She graduated from Decorah High School May 13, 1943. She graduated from Luther College in Decorah, IA 1947 with a degree in Speech and Drama with minors in Education and English. Her first teaching job was in Tracy, MN from 1947 to 1948.
Rosalie returned to Decorah, IA after teaching one year, and married Paul on June 18, 1948, Rosalie and Paul gave birth to three children; Paula, Kathy, and John. In 1965 Rosalie began substitute teaching at Central Junior High School in White Bear Lake, MN. While substitute teaching she attended the University of Minnesota and St. Thomas College and became one of the first people to receive a SLD (Slow Learner Disability) Certificate. After receiving her SLD Certificate, she taught kids with learning disabilities at Central Junior High School until retiring in 1987. While living in White Bear Lake Rosalie and Paul were members of Redeemer Lutheran Church and later at First Lutheran Church.
Rosalie and Paul moved to Mitchell, SD on May 1, 2003 where they resided at Countryside Living and were members of Resurrection Lutheran Church where their son John is the Pastor and Rosalie was a part of the Mary Circle.
Rosalie enjoyed golfing, ice skating, playing the piano, knitting, crossword puzzles, playing scrabble, reading and was an avid bridge player in her younger years. In her later years she enjoyed playing bingo.
Rosalie is survived by her daughter Kathryn Courtney and husband Jeff of Newaygo, MI; her son John and wife Vicki of Mitchell; her son-in-law Brian Asmus of Duluth, MN; her sister Phyllis Paulson of Wausau, WI; her sister-in-law Marian Majerle of Milaca, MN; five grandchildren: Rachael, Jennifer, Joshua, Elissa, and Kelsey; and five great-grandchildren: Katherine, Jeffery, Abigail, Victoria, and Logan; and eight nieces and nephews.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul on January 4, 2012, her daughter Paula Jean Hansen Asmus on April 22, 1994; her brother-in-law Vernon “Bud” Paulson; her brother-in-law Reverend Philip Hansen and his wife Shirley and her brother-in-law Rudy Majerle.
Rosalie cherished all of her friendships that she made throughout the years.
