Paul James Orr was born January 11, 1922 at Sperry, Iowa to James and Anna (Gerdes) Orr. At the age of six he moved with his family to Miller, SD and then lived in the Loomis area. He graduated from Letcher High School in 1941. He served in the US Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. After the war, he moved to Loomis and then to Mitchell in 1969. He worked as a truck driver for Standard Oil Company in Mitchell for many years. He was a member of the American Legion.
Paul is survived by his sister, Dorothy Orr of Mitchell; three children: Alfred (Deb) Jennings of Spearfish; Patty Garcia of Lake Andes; Brigette Dawson of Flandreau; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Lois Orr of Lead, one niece Mary (Craig) Bostian of Aberdeen, and three nephews, Tom Orr and Rob Orr of Lead and Mark (Carol) Orr of Bellingham, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Floyd “Bud” Orr.
