Jennetta Neugebauer was born October 26, 1922, at Corsica, SD, Douglas County, to Ben and Minnie (Beukelman) Wiersma. She attended country school and did house work at a young age. She attended NYA School at White Lake for four years, did café work and was employed at Mitchell Produce and Morrows Produce in Armour. On February 19, 1952, she married Lewis Neugebauer at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Dimock. To this union, they were blessed with five children. They farmed south of Mount Vernon for three years then moved to a farm west of Ethan. As a wife and mother, she spent many hours skillfully cooking, baking, mending and canning. She can be remembered spending time outdoors in the yard and caring for her chickens. She cherished artifacts, especially of her family and community and loved to save mementos of the past to share with others. Her pastimes included looking through family pictures, preparing scrap books and sewing. She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church.
She is survived by four children: Sharon and husband Howard Weischedel of Plankinton; Janice and husband Ron Junge of Rapid City; Connie and husband Robert Bruske of Ethan; Larry Neugebauer of Ethan; daughter-in-law, Kathy Neugebauer of Mitchell, eleven granddaughters, three grandsons, one great-granddaughter, three great-grandsons, two brothers, Andrew Wiersma of Armour and William Wiersma of Mitchell, one sister, Frances Holzhauser of Mitchell and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Wiersma of Viborg. She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis of 54 years in 2005, her parents, her son Roger in August of 1994, her brother Arie Wiersma in October of 1994, an infant brother, sister-in-law, Wanda Wiersma, brother-in-law, Raymond Holzhauser and nephew, Dennis Wiersma.
