Rosalia O. Helle was given her heart’s desire, and was ushered from this world into her Heavenly Home on Thursday, January 24, 2013.
Rosalia was born on February 26, 1916 at Hillside (16 miles south of Mitchell) to Fredrich & Christina (Schmier) Semmler. Rose was #7 in a family of twelve children – six brothers and five sisters. She married Ralph, her husband of 64 years, in Miltonvale, KS on November 5, 1940! Their only son, Lyle, was born September 26, 1941.
Rose was a long time member of Mitchell Wesleyan Church. She dearly loved the Lord and her church family! And…she loved quilting, missions, and her involvement in the children’s Sunday School department. In 1994 Rose was honored for having taught the first grade Sunday School class for more than 40 consecutive years!
Rose was actively involved, alongside her husband, with the Gideons, the Corn Palace Rock Club, and the Salvation Army. She was an avid rock painter, giving all receipts for her rock sales to missions.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Kimberly Winters (& husband, James) of Bartlesville, OK.; a great-grandson, Cody Winters, of Bartlesville, OK; one brother, Reuben Semmler, of Parkston, SD; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends! She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, December 5, 2004; son, Lyle; daughter-in-law, Joan Holtz; five brothers – Rudolph, Arthur, Bernard, Emmanuel, Gottfried; five sisters – Alvina, Amanda, Edna, Adeline, Martha.
