H.C. (Ike) Eichman


May 26, 1928 - July 11, 2013



H. C. "Ike" Eichman was born in Junius, SD on May 26, 1928 to Henry and Elizabeth (McCool) Eichman.  He moved to Mitchell in 1942 and attended Notre Dame High School.  He enlisted in the US Navy in 1946 and served in the Aleutian Islands on Adak with the Navy Seabees and was honorably discharged in 1948.

He married Dolores Mackey on December 27, 1948 in Mitchell.  He worked for REA, Schwans Electric, Stedman Grocery, National Food Store and was then a sales representative for Nabisco for 34 years. 

He is survived by his wife, Dolores, a son, Mark (Cheryl) Eichman, three daughters: Lynn (Jerry) Metcalf, Laurie (Lou) Cooper and Mary Eichman all of Mitchell.  He is also survived by six grandchildren, six great- grandchildren, sisters:  Jeanne Miller of Mitchell and Noreen Boomsma of Appleton, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Herb and Bob Eichman and a sister, Marcella Kelly.

I miss you Dad so so much please hold mom so tight for me I did what you asked and took care of her and those two sisters are just being mean to me and won't even talk to me. But that's okay I have my children family but I still wish I had you and I'm always going to be daddy's girl

Sorry to hear about Ike's passing. We were out of town and just got back last night. Our sympathy to Delores, Laurie and everyone. We will miss him.

Saddened to hear of Ike's passing. So glad I got to see him and visit with you all last fall.

I always looked forward to visits with Ike, when i was a boy he would stop at our house and there were always cookie samples involved. And later in life i got to know him, and what a genulinely nice guy he was. I will miss our visits in the fall every year.
