Harold S. Crater was born February 11, 1924 at Stickney to Eugene and Mary (Kopietz) Crater. He grew up on the farm and attended Pleasant Lake Country School. On July 12, 1950 he married Bertha Marie Prien at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney. They resided in the Stickney, Winner and Plankinton areas, where Harold was a butcher in the various Meat Lockers. In 1968 they moved back to Stickney and he continued to work in the Lockers and for area farmers as a butcher. In October of 2007, he and Bertha moved to the Good Samaritan Home in Corsica.
He is survived by one daughter, Connie (Russell) Graves, Ethan; two sons: Richard (Sheila) Crater, Stickney; John Crater, Mitchell; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister, Ethel Pavlin, Mount Vernon; brothers-in-law: Ray Prien, Stickney, Elmer (Marian) Prien, Crossville, TN and sister-in-law, Mabel Schmit, Winner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha in December 2009, six brothers and two sisters.
