Obituary

Mary Ann Burian, 85, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at her home under hospice care in Mitchell. Visitation will be Thursday, March 14, from 5-7:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 6:30 PM prayer service. A private family burial will be held at St. Margaret’s Catholic Cemetery in Kimball at a later date.

Mary Ann (Geppert) Burian was born December 25, 1938 to Raymond and Lucille Geppert in Maquoketa, IA. The family relocated to Mitchell where Mary Ann attended school at Notre Dame School, before moving to Kimball and graduating from Kimball High School. After high school, she attended Springfield College, and after graduating she taught elementary in Estelline, SD. Moving to Mitchell a few years later, she was employed at the Doll Museum for several years.

Mary Ann always enjoyed a cup of coffee with friends.

Mary Ann is survived by her sister, Nancy Jo (Don) Reinesch of Kimball, SD. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews: Rick (Rhonda) Reinesch of Austin, TX, Bryce (Victoria) Mia of Houston, TX, Natalee (Justin) Farmer, Baell, and Cora all of Kansas City, Todd of Kimball, Lindsay (Shane) Weisgram, Gemma, and Will all of Sioux Falls, Amanda (Andrew) DeSousa, Brad, and Jane all of Rochester, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant nephew, Randy.

Mary Ann was our neighbor on Duff Street for the first 17 years of my life! She was the sweetest and always stopped to say hello. Prayers to her family

So many good memories of Franklin and MaryAnn when they were together, and lived in Kimball!
We spent many hours in their little store on the corner!
She was a very good friend to my mother...
