Chad and family, so sorry for your loss. I feel fortunate to have been a close friend of Rich for the past 60 + years. South Dakota was a great place to grow up and we sure had a lot of fun hanging out together, going to school together and working various jobs together, either laying sod for Bud Phillips or working on a traveling custom combine crew. Alaska called me at a young age and a few years later Rich was able to join me on a return trip back to Alaska to work with me on a survey crew. Rich transitioned into the Right of Way Section of the State of Alaska and I transitioned into the Design and Construction Section of the Department of Transportation for the State of Alaska. In addition to remaining close friends we were able to work together off and on occasionally. That Engineering work plus personal travel took us to the four corners of The Last Frontier including many fly in only bush villages. Rich also joined me for an epic sailboat trip into the Bahamas. Rich was a great friend and I miss him already……
