Alfred “Ike” Wells, 90, of White Lake, SD, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024, at Aurora-Brule Care and Rehab in White Lake. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Thursday, April 11, at the United Methodist Church in White Lake. Burial will be in the Underwood Cemetery at rural White Lake. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7:00 PM at the Church with a 6:30 PM prayer service. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Alfred James Wells was born August 24, 1933 at rural White Lake, SD to Roy and Cecelia (Anderson) Wells. Ike grew up on the family farm until enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in October 1951. He was honorably discharged in October 1955. Ike returned to White Lake and was employed as a mechanic at the Farmers Union Co-op/Cenex Station until retiring. He married Joyce Shirley and together they raised six children. After the death of Joyce, he married Eva Lou Spinar. After retiring from Cenex, Ike drove the White Lake School bus for several years and worked at the Aurora-Brule Nursing Home for several years.
Ike is survived by his wife, Eva Lou; three sons: Dave (Karla) of CO, Doug (Tina) of WA, and Frank (Pam) of Mitchell; one daughter, Teresa (Doug) Deurmier of Mitchell; four step-children: Lynn of MT, Karen of White Lake, Tom (Diane) of Plankinton, and Amy of White lake; daughter-in-law, Deb Wells of Sioux Falls; 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce; two sons, Mike and John; granddaughter, Amy Sue; two brothers, John (Dakota) and George (Clarice); and nephew, Roy Wells.
