Obituary

Bruce “Ed” McMillan, 74, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, at Aurora-Brule Nursing home in White Lake. Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Wednesday, April 8, at First United Methodist Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Draper Cemetery in Draper, SD. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Bruce Edward McMillan was born on March 5, 1952, to HB “Mack” and Lula “Lu” (Christian) McMillan, in Pierre, SD. He graduated from Draper High School in 1970.

On July 16, 1977, he married LaRonda Lukkes in Avon, SD. Ed worked in maintenance and for Syncom for 17 years. He was also a truck driver for various people.

Ed enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. Ed also enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle in his early years. He could often be found in his garage listening to music while tinkering and admiring his model car collection.

Ed is survived by his wife, LaRonda McMillan of Mitchell; children, Melinda (Mike) Bamsey of Mitchell, Jesse (Amanda) McMillan of Dell Rapids, SD, Melissa McMillan (Matt Schulte) of Mitchell; eight grandchildren; and siblings, Kenny (Sally) McMillan of Phoenix, AZ, Colleen Stadler (fiancé Dean Lutz) of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Kelly (Ronda) McMillan of Hayesville, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
