Constance “Connie” Pietz, 77, of Mitchell, SD, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 11, 2021 under hospice care. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, June 4, 2022, from 12-2:00 PM at the Hitchcock Park Shelter in Mitchell. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Constance “Connie” Lynn Pietz was bom on January 12, 1944 to William and Rita (Engels) Pietz in Parkston, SD. She attended Sacred Heart School through 8th grade and graduated from Parkston High School in 1962.

Connie waitressed at Courts cafe, was a cashier at Red Owl and Sunshine, and worked at M & H for 21 years. She retired 7 years ago. She absolutely loved visiting with all people. One of Connie's goals in life was to make people smile. She enjoyed baking, reading, sudoku, tending to her flower garden and spending time with her family.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Wayne (Mary) Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD and Jolynn (Stewart) Hanson, Mitchell; grandchildren, Crystal Hanson & partner Steve (Skip), Sioux Falls, SD, Jordan (Emily) Hanson, Mitchell, SD, Marissa (Jordan) Schanzenbach, Sioux Falls, SD, Aaron Johnson (girlfriend Katy) Sioux Falls, SD; former spouse, Ken Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD; and an abundance of friends and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Billy, and partner of 33 years, Earl Giedd.
