Dennis “Red” Dean McBrayer was born February 28, 1964, to Donald “Gus” and Joan (Murray) McBrayer in Parkston, SD. Dennis grew up and attended school in Ethan. He graduated from Ethan High School in 1983.

Dennis married Sharon (Wynia) on July 11, 1987, in Springfield, SD. To this union, they had one son, Reed.

Dennis worked for Pat Weber Construction, until starting his own construction company with his brother, Donnie. He also farmed with his family.

Dennis was a great father, friend, and teacher. He enjoyed spending time with family and playing cards. Dennis loved his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, and always found a way to tease them. He always caught the biggest fish, and won at cards every time. He loved the outdoors and hunting.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, Reed (Elizabeth) of Sioux Falls; parents, Gus and Joan; brothers, Donnie (Bev) of Ethan, Jeff (Kathy) of Sioux Falls, and Brian (Michelle) of Ethan; sister, Vicki Connor (Dave Duba) of Ethan; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Don and Janette McBrayer; maternal grandparents, Donald and Margaret Murray; uncles, Pat McBrayer, Bob Oberembt, and Javern Hofer; aunts, Judy Waldera and Mona McBrayer; great-nephew, Eli Porter; father-in-law, Gerb Wynia; and brother-in-law, Gary Wynia.

My sincerest condolences to this McDonald’s Brayer family on the loss of Red. Life is short. I just talked with him at the gas pumps at Mikes Corner a couple weeks ago and he still called me by my high school nickname and I loved it. He was a good man gone way too soon !,,,
