Earl Ellis, 86, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Private family burial will be at the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Sioux Falls.

Earl Hershall Ellis was born on March 24, 1940, to Lyle and Alice (Straight) Ellis in Orange, California. Earl married Carol Stimson on November 14, 1964, in Santa Ana, California. He was a dedicated outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting, and spending time with his family. He had a successful career as a machinist spanning over 50 years. Earl served in the U.S Navy for 6 years.

Earl is survived by his two daughters, one son, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ellis, and his parents.
