Eugene Schneider, 85, of Mitchell, SD, died Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 21, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Holy Three Kings Cemetery in Epiphany. Visitation will be from 1-3:00 PM Sunday, March 20, at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 2:30 PM Scripture Service followed by a Rosary. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Eugene Robert Schneider was born July 6, 1936, to Mathias and Myrtle (Ditter) Schneider in rural Hanson County. He attended grade school at Epiphany Catholic School and graduated from Canova High School in 1952. Gene served in the US Army in Germany, and returned to South Dakota to work with his brother, Darold at Schneider Repair in Spencer, SD. Gene enjoyed visiting over the fence with customers and friends.

He worked in the chemical/fertilizer business. He worked in Huron, Oldham, Ainsworth, NE, Pierre, Mitchell, and Longmont, CO. After retirement, Gene returned to Mitchell. Gene married Marilyn (Heidbrink) in Epiphany, SD in 1967.

Gene is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sister, Marilyn June Leuhn; brother-in-law, James Heidbrink; sisters-in-law, Joy Heidebrink, Joanne Schneider, and Maurine Schneider; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norbert, Darold, Roland (Kobb) and his wife, Evelyn, and Roderick; sister, Bernadine Boggs and husband, Wayne; mother and father-in-law, Fred and Margaret Heidbrink; and brothers-in-law, Leslie Heidbrink, Bill Leuhn, and Dona Mindeman.  Memorials may be given to Holy Spirit Catholic Church Organ fund.
