Frank Zemina Jr., 71, of Mitchell, SD, died Friday, November 5, 2021, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 9, at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Frank R. Zemina Jr. was born June 29, 1950, to Frank Sr. and Mary (Wampol) Zemina in Yankton, SD. Frank attended school in Mitchell and was in the Job Corps.
He grew an interest in mechanics at a young age from watching his dad and self-teaching himself, as he was a quick learner. Frank loved to detail and accessorize his vehicles, and oh boy did he have many vehicles over the years. Many of Frank’s friends would come to him for car advice and to fix their car problems. Frank worked for many auto dealerships over the years as a mechanic and detailer. He was then a car transporter, traveling to many states. He never met a car he didn’t like! It was only due to failing health that he was unable to continue his passion for automotive. He also worked for the City of Mitchell Sanitation Department and Rocs Weatherization.
Frank married Ruth Uhre and to this union one son was born, Michael “Mikey”. Later, he met the love of his life Carmen, and what was to be only one date… lasted over 40 years.
Frank loved his family and friends. He had a very caring side and always asked how someone was doing even if he hadn’t visited or seen them in a while. Frank will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him!
Frank is survived by his partner, Carmen Granger; son, Michael “Mikey” of Mitchell; stepdaughter, Kristi (Gary) Vobr of Mitchell; siblings, Carol (Bob) Larsen of Yucaipa, CA, Nadine (Brian) Grosz, Lorna (Dan) Sonne, and Julie (Mark) Stedronsky all of Mitchell; mother-in-law, Corrine Granger; sisters-in-law, Almyra Granger, Ann (Rod) Miller, Jenell (Steve) Walz, and Mary (Doug) Newton; brothers-in-law, Mark (Julie) Granger and George Granger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Eugene Granger; brothers-in-law, Bill and Bob Granger; and many other loved relatives.
So sorry for your loss. Sending our thoughts and prayers.
