Obituary

James Roth, 76, of Parkston, SD, died Saturday, December 18, 2021, in Parkston. A Celebration of Life will be from 6-7:00 PM Wednesday, December 22, at Bittner Funeral Chapel. Burial will at Milltown Cemetery in Parkston. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

James Gary Roth was born August 6, 1945, in Princeton, IL. James grew up in many different foster homes, finally being adopted by Neil and Harriet (Hirning) Roth at the age of 15 in 1960. Jim graduated from Mitchell High School in 1963.

Jim was in the US Navy from October 1965 to September 1968. In 1970 he graduated from El Reno Oklahoma Vocational School, and then began working in construction. He was a crane operator and worked for Barbarosa Construction until his rheumatoid arthritis started to affect his daily jobs.

He was preceded in death by his lifetime friend of over 40 years, Deb Tegethoff; parents, Neil and Harriet; and his grandparents, Harold and Jean Tegethoff.

I was Harriet Roth's oldest nephew, 2 years younger than Jim. We had great times whenever we got together in Mitchell & Rapid City whenever they visited us in the Black Hills before he enlisted. (Navy)

Jim will forever be a huge part of my life, he was the best uncle, friend, and I can't imagine him no longer here with us. He is forever missed and loved. Rest easy Jimbo.
