Obituary

Jessica Jacobson, 47, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, surrounded by loved ones and holding her husband’s hand. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 9, from 5-7:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Jessica Ann (Bullington) Jacobson was born on March 13, 1978, in Parkston, SD, to Byron Bullington and Sandy Schoenfelder. Jessica attended Mitchell Public Schools and graduated in 1997. In her last years of high school, Jessica worked at the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Following the birth of her son, Jessica dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mother.

In 2004, she met Jeremy Jacobson, and the two were united in marriage on July 29, 2006. They were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Ashley, on May 12, 2012.

Jessica was devoted to her family and considered them her greatest joy. She possessed a remarkable capacity for empathy, always offering a listening ear and maintaining a consistently positive demeanor and smile, even in the face of adversity. She cherished time spent with family and friends, enjoyed word-finding books, and took pleasure in car rides and outings. Throughout her life, Jessica faced numerous health challenges and fought to survive all the way to the end.  

Jessica is survived by her husband, Jeremy Jacobson of Mitchell; children, Travis Bullington and Ashley Jacobson both of Mitchell; father, Byron (Gail) Bullington; mother, Sandy (Jerry) Long; brother, Bobby Bullington of Denver, CO; and one grandchild.

I have thought about you all day and I pray that you find peace and grace waiting for you in heaven. I know we never kept in touch over the years but as cousins I never forgot you and will always love you. Your memory will live on through your family as we cherish the moments we had with you. My sincere condolences goes out to your husband and kids.

What can I say hun? I loved you with all my heart. 19 years married. 21 years together. Thank you for being my wife and giving the greatest gift of being a dad. You were always positive about things even when you were hurting. One reason I married you was your smile. I will miss your smile. You were my best friend and a great mom. You will never be forgotten. Me and Ashley love you with all our hearts. My saving grace is now i know you're no longer hurting or suffering. Fly high babe and keep watch over us.
