Obituary

Jonathan Maresh, 54, of Mt. Vernon, SD, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be Friday, February 13, from 5-7:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 6:30 PM prayer service. Private burial will be at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Platte, SD.

Jonathan Lee Maresh was born November 28, 1971 to Bob and Judy (Hansen) Maresh in Platte, SD. He graduated from Platte High School in 1990. After high school, Jon received his degree in construction from Mitchell Technical Institute.

Jon’s career began as a carpenter in Sioux Falls for several years. He later moved to Las Vegas before returning to Platte where he worked at TRAIL-EZE. He then moved to Mt. Vernon and worked at Trail King in Mitchell.

Jon is survived by his parents, Bob and Judy of Platte; sisters, Stephanie (Tim) Baatz of Firestone, CO, Kimberly (Matt) Pipal of Clovis, NM, and Kristina (Troy) Sprik of Platte; nephews and nieces: Kaylee (Matt) Stevens, Mitchell (Kristin) Baatz, Keegan Baatz, Tayler (Jared) Finch, Cassidy Pipal, Hunter Pipal (fiancé Bri Flores), Blaine Pipal, Trevor (Trinity) Sprik, Brady Sprik, Halle Sprik, and Hayden Sprik; and three great-nieces, Harper Stevens, Izzy Stevens, and Lily Sprik.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Ivoe Hansen, and Eman and Elsie Maresh.

It was very sad to see the passing of Jon. Lots of high school memories and the times I woukd visit with him when he was hanging out at my brother's house when I made it back to Platte. Thinking of you allπŸ™

A Vikings Fan he was!! He coached them outside with us as we talked about the game. Bret & John knew all the plays to improve their VikingsπŸ€—πŸ€— John made us laugh always.
