Joseph Kelty, 93, of Plankinton, SD, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026, at his son’s home in Logan, OH. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Saturday, September 12, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Plankinton. Burial will be at Mizpah Cemetery in Plankinton. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7:00 PM at the Church with a 6:30 PM prayer service.

Joseph Thomas Kelty was born November 6, 1932, in Plankinton, SD, to Frank and Esther Kelty. He served in the U.S. Army, retired as a cattle rancher, liked spending time with his son Mike at Top Dog, and enjoyed his nickname of “Grandpa Joe.”         

Joseph is survived by his son, Mike (Misty) Kelty, and 4 daughters.

Grandpa Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Kelty; sons, Dennis and Thomas; and his parents, Frank and Esther Kelty.
